Ephesians 1:5
He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. . .
As parents one of the things, we constantly make
effort to help our children understand is that they should be careful of the
kind of children they make friends with. In doing this we try to know more
about their family backgrounds, morals, and spiritual concepts to get a sense
of how this friendship with our children and family will work. As a family, we
invested together to make a good choice of friends.
In today’s scripture, we are told that God has
decided that he wants us to join his family not even as friends but as sons and
daughters. Does it inspire you? The creation story helps us to see that God has
been pleased to create us for fellowship with him, but even more, God knew that
through the redemption plan, we would become His sons and daughters. His plan
for our lives is to include us in his family. Yes! It wasn’t enough that God
created us and made us his image bearers; he also loves us and wants to live in
a relationship with us as a Father.
When our lives reflect the realization of all this,
we display God’s glory and his love, and something changes in us. We carry
ourselves with the knowledge that we belong and are part of God’s family. Because
of the love God has given and shown to us, we have the ability to live in unity
together, sharing in the truth of our adoption that God has indeed chosen us.
