Renew. Refresh. Refocus.
Day 213
ANOTHER SAD DAY
Even when we do not understand, we are called to trust.
Today’s Verse
“Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?”Romans 7:1, King James Version
This chapter opens with a heavy moment. Another sad day in the life of the church. James, the brother of John and one of the twelve apostles, was killed. A faithful witness. A visible part of the early church.
This reminds us that faith does not remove us from painful realities. The church was growing, yet persecution had not ended. It only changed form. Now it came with greater force and authority. Herod stretched out his hand against the church. His actions were not without motive. He observed that certain leaders among the Jewish people, those who opposed the message of Christ, were pleased with what he had done. In seeking their approval and political favor, he went further and arrested Peter. When evil is applauded, it often multiplies. Peter was kept under heavy guard. Everything was arranged to ensure that there would be no escape. The intention was clear. Public humiliation and eventual execution. The situation looked final. Moments like this raise questions. Why was James killed while Peter was still alive. Why does God allow one and deliver another. These are real thoughts in difficult seasons. Yet, even when we do not understand, we are called to trust.
Even on another sad day, God remains faithful.
Across the world today, many believers still face persecution. Some are imprisoned. Some are attacked. Some lose their lives because of their faith. This is not just history. It is happening now.
As we begin this new season, remain steady. Do not let fear weaken your faith. Do not let difficult moments shake your confidence in God. Our lives are in His hands, and our times are in His control. Even on another sad day, God remains faithful.
Pause and reflect
A question for today
What would it look like for you to live out faith this week?
Let us pray
Prayer
Lord, strengthen my heart in difficult times. Help me trust You even when life brings painful moments. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I'm highly encouraged with this message. Thank you Jesus
