CASNFCI SCRIPTURE
& PRAYER FOR THE DAY
His
father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: Luke 1:67-78.
Zechariah had been silent for months. He had doubted the angel’s message, and as a result, he was unable to speak. But when his son, John, was born and he confirmed the child’s God-given name, something changed. Scripture tells us, “His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied...” (Luke 1:67). What followed was not simply the joy of a new father—it was a powerful declaration inspired by the Spirit of God. Zechariah praised the Lord, celebrated His covenant faithfulness, and spoke prophetically over his son’s life. This moment captures what it means to be a Spirit-filled father.
A Spirit-filled father is one who allows God to shape his life. Zechariah didn’t waste his restored voice on regrets or opinions. Instead, he exalted God and proclaimed His purposes. His words were filled with gratitude, vision, and faith. He also saw beyond the child in front of him. He saw a calling, a destiny. “And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High” (v.76). A Spirit-filled father does more than raise children—he speaks purpose over them. He discerns what God is doing in their lives and prays them into their destiny.
In
a world where many fathers are absent or silent—not just physically, but
spiritually—Zechariah’s example is a challenge and a call. The Holy Spirit is
still ready to fill fathers today—not only for bold declarations but for a
purposeful and worthy life, godly example, and spiritual leadership in the
home, churches, and communities.
May
God raise up more Spirit-filled fathers—men who are present, prayerful, and
prophetic. Fathers who point their children not just to success, but to the
Savior.
PRAYER
Lord, revive men everywhere for a purposeful and worthy life.
Raise godly fathers to lead their homes for Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
